TEETH CLEANING AND POLISHING

TEETH CLEANING AND POLISHING

Scaling and root planning-soft and hard deposit removal (plaque and calculus), and stain removal

Keep your teeth healthy

No matter how well you clean your teeth there will always be hard-to-reach areas that are tricky to keep clean. In these areas, plaque bacteria can accumulate and may eventually mineralize to form a tough, crusty deposit called calculus or tartar, which is impossible to remove by brushing alone. If not removed, you can do scaling and polishing in our place.

  • Scaling: removal of plaque and tartar from all tooth surfaces with different types of scaling being used in relation to the amount of plaque and tartar.
  • Polishing: using a slow speed handpiece with a soft rubber cup that spins on the end.

The purpose of the scaling and polishing is basically to leave the surfaces of the teeth clean and smooth so that bacteria are unable to stick to them and you have a better chance of keeping the teeth clean during your regular home care. Also it leaves your teeth feeling lovely, smooth and clean, which is nice when you run your tongue around them.
